Show Me the Money
2/5/1999
The NBC show Dateline recently aired a feature about how to find lost property on the web via a site designed by iNet Technologies.
The Dateline story highlighted the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators web site and drew attention to state unclaimed property links where potential owners of lost assets can reach the state offices online. Telephone numbers and addresses of the state contacts are also on the site located at www.unclaimed.org.
Based upon online survey results of an NBC poll of top 10 stories, the unclaimed property show was a success. Within 12 hours after the segment aired, nearly 20,000 visitors to the "Dateline" web site had logged the unclaimed property show as their favorite. In comparison, the other nine shows in the survey had less than 1000 votes at the same poll time.
The popularity of the show and the number of hits received by the site reaffirms NAUPA’s goal to increase its outreach efforts to both the general public and other constituencies. A new re-design of the site is underway, offering owners of lost property faster and easier access to finding out if they have unclaimed property.Valerie Jundt, executive director of NAUPA, is pleased with the site and what it has to offer. "The potential for bringing together owners with their lost property through our web site is phenomenal. It’s exciting to see how iNet Technologies is transforming our vision into reality."
